I work in Barclays Westbury on Trym Branch , Working full time 11-7 most days and every other Saturday, I work on the till most days but am sometimes in a servicing room dealing with enquiries that may take longer or be more complex, I serve customers by withdrawing and paying in cash, doing transfers and other transactions.
I have learned a lot about banking during my time at Barclays, I have learned all of the processing that needs to be done daily and learned as much as I can about how to serve customers and the products that Barclays offer. I expect I will learn much more over the course of the rest of my apprenticeship.
I am very much enjoying my apprenticeship, the pay is good for an apprenticeship and I get on well with all of my colleuges, the course is interesting and I am enjoying getting to learn all about banking and meeting people from all different backgrounds as I serve on the counter.
The programme is very well structured, I began starting at Barclays just training to do the role I am employed for, then I met my course leader who has signed me up to the system in which I can do my coursework. I now receive regular visits from him to check on my progress
I receive as much support from my employer as I need which Is really good, I have regular 121s which help with my progress and improving in my role as an EB. I also have lots of training and have been on many courses which help me in performing in my day to day role.
I started receiving regular visits from my training provider which was when Barclays was my provider, since we switched to Knowledge pool I haven't really heard form my trainer however he has booked another meeting in a few weeks to catch up and get me back on track with the training.
as I haven't started doing my qualification yet I cannot really comment on this question , my answer may well change as I continue to learn and progress in my apprenticeship , but at the moment I cant really give a fair rating on this question so I will leave it at 5
at Barclays there is quite a lot of extra curricular activities to get involved with, we often have work Socials every few months and we often go out for lunch during lunch breaks or out after work for things like birthdays and other events like leaving parties etc which is really good.
Yes
I enjoy my job and have hours that work for me, I enjoy coming to work each day as most days are different and bring new challenges, I get on well with all of my collegues and the actual tasks involved in my job are interesting and enjoyable, I would definitely recommend.
I would say that during interviews, to research well and be yourself as the questions are ones that require at least some knowledge of the business, and that it doesn't matter if you are not the most experienced as I had zero experience in banking or retail but managed to be employed.
