I am in a training academy role where i manage site complinace training, the site induction and apprenticeship schemes alongside creating training packages.
I have learnt many new skills: communication skills, presentation skills, computer software skills, project management, budgeting, confidence and many more. These have helped when training and coaching others and how to deal with difficult delegates and presenting to groups. This has helped with my confidence in and out of work.
I enjoy my programme now that i have settled into a role which i may go into full time once my apprenticeship has finished. I enjoy the levels of ownership i get and responsibilities. The objectives that i recieve strech me to achieve my best and go above and beyond.
My programme in the first year wasn't very well structured, it was made as we went along. From this the second year seems to be more organised. This was due to us being the first on the scheme and it wasnt 100% ready. All sites are also not aligned on the programme.
I have received a lot of support from my employer. At work i have 2 mentors one who is in the executive committee. He helps coach and guide me into how to becom a successful leader and manager. I also have mentor support from my previous line manager and my current one.
We get a little bit of support from our lecturers but more fomr the main contact of the university. If we ahve any queries or problems we can contact him and 9 times out of 10 he will get back to us the same day with a helpful response to our question.
It helped alot, there were some modules that werent relevant such as sales and marketing but most were helpful.
