At nestle day to day i go down to the shop floor and attened to the sweet wrapping machines. i change reels and sort out any jams in the machine. I currently do 8 hour shifts alternating from mornings to afternoons. on fridays i have time to do my college work.
I have had expereince in lots of things here at nestle. i have improved my problem solving skills learing how to do basic problem solving. i have improved my ablity to coach others. i am also stating to learn basic enginnering skils. i have also learnt all about 5 s.
i enjoy earning money, and do like coming to work but overall the aprrenticeship has been very disorganised which was very of putting at first. the people i work with are great and i feel like there is alsways somone to help. but i dont feel like i have been chalenged very much
The programe is very poor in its structure. there has been little guidence and we have been left to find our own way most of the time. there has been no plan and becasue of this there has been quite a lot of wasted time spent doing nothing productive. for a big company is been very poor.
The employer is good overall haveing a good HR department who are always happy to. the empoyer gives us time to do any collge work and assist us if we need any help with any assignments. they also offer helth checks and have a good pay scale for us apprentices to work towards
kirklees collage has a lot of good but allso a lot of bad. The good points are is SENCO depoartment who are very helpfull to people with learning problems providing laptops and extra time. the bad point have been some of the teachers and assoors who had no idea about the subject.
The qualification in my eyes is very pointless and if i had the option not to do it i would. the qulifation we do (level 3 food and drink manufaturing) seems to be fairly new and becaseu of this there is not much metiral to help us with it. Not once have i use any collge work for work.
There is no social activites or sports teams but as apprentices in our fist year we went out to other schools to get people more intrested joining apprenticships. we do organise our own aprrentice nights out and when we are at colloge there are apprentices from other sites there that we talk to.
Yes
I would recomend nestle to a frien becasue of the money they pay and the job security but i would not recomend nestle to a friend if they wanted a meaning full job. overall the compony is a good place to work but for someone joining the apprenticeship i would tell them not to get there hopes up
My first bit of advice would be go for either the engineering apprenticeship or the degree on because at least then you get somthing out of it. but if you want good money and job security then nestle is a good place to be. In any interview it is importent to stand out and show you are a leader.
