Shadow associates in my team on projects. Heavily involed in two office fit out both based in Farringdon. Often go around the sites, showing the client around etc. Involved in the weekly meetings, as well as other smaller meetings. Where i take notes and update the risk register. Furthermore i am incharge of dealing with the professional photographers who take pictures and fix timelapse cameras which shows the process of the development of the build. Also attend CPDs to increase my knowledge. Lastly i try to attend career fairs with the careers department to show younger people the opportunities there is out there.
Developed my peoples skill more - in terms of dealing with a range of different characters. Improved my knowledge on outlook, excel, word and skype. Learning to understand how to effeciently run a project.
Extremely happy i decided to apply for this programme over going down the uni route. Have learnt a considerable amount already, especially walking around site, its a great atmosphere and have great people teaching me and developing my knowledge.
yeah works very smoothly and is very clear.
I recieve a considerable amount of support. Both with my uni and day-to-day work. Whenever i have an issue or question, i will always get a swift response.
It could be easier to ask someone if we had a question about something and make the webinars purely the lecturer going through the topics, then to have questions at the end. otherwise will spend 20 mins going through the same questions for a tiny section.
I am starting to apply what i learn at uni to my work which is good a thing. I think when i start learning more about construction etc it will help me even more.
There are plenty of social activities, such as xmas/summer party. My individual team also often have little gatherings such as drinks, activities (bounce/swingers(golf)). There are also welcome and leavers drinks for people. We are about to join a 6 aside football league which competes against other firms. There is constantly chances to attend networking events almost 1 or 2 times ea week both internally/externally - as well as a high amount of CPDs
Yes
Have everything you need to start your career. You get your uni degree and APC all within 5 years. You have no debt to worry about, your getting paid at the same time. Most importantly you learn so much whilst on the job than i reckon you would studying at uni. Starting off at this level you will have an advantage on other people, in terms of contacts, knowledge etc.
Show passion, enthusiasm and your eagerness to learn. Don't come into it being arrogant and thinking they need you. Do your research on the company and relative property news. Come to interviews/assessments in a suit - look presentable. Attend the insight days!
