My role involves me working in the Global Occupier Services team. Here I help support my line manager and other qualified surveyors manage our client accounts. Many of the tasks given to me are aimed at me developing my understanding of how we manage our clients and thier property portfolios.
New skills I have developed include my business attitude, futher understanding the importance of transparaentcy, and also how to make the most out of the qualitifed professionals around me in order to enhance my development as an apprentice. My exsisting communication skills have also been imporved through me having to get to know fellow workers who I had never met previously.
I enjoy my apprenticeship at C&W my fellow employees have always been welcoming to me and offered help whenever I have asked for it. This has continuously benefited my learning on the apprenticehsip scheme, which makes work easier to complete in the long term. This therefore makes the programme more enjoyable.
My programme is very well organised, an example of this is the vast amount of contacts you are given as a apprentice who are there to help you. You are given a line manager, a buddy (someone of similar age who can offer advice), a mentor, and you also keep you HR contacts. Offering a apprentice this wide amount of contacts shows how well set up the scheme is as a whole in the company.
My employer offers huge amounts of support to me on the apprentice programme and continues to do so for many years into the future, which apprentices older than myself have told to me. The employer has invest time and money into recuriting you, so they follow this up with strong support once you are a employee.
My training provider (University of Westminster), offers a fair amount of support with lectures and ocassionally extra advice, However as we are only at Uni one day a week it makes it difficult to access the support they offer most of the time. Lectures are aware of who also is a apprentice which helps them understand you personal reasons for attending Uni.
For the current team I am in a work, Global Occupier Services, my Uni studies have not yet directly correlated with my role, therefore it is hard to me to comment on this. However for apprentices in agency or valuation teams this will be different, and I expect Uni will be helping them with thier work role.
Yes thier are sports clubs at my work which are happy to include everyone. Also if you make friends at work (which it is very easy to do at C&W) then often you can be invited out for lunch or drinks with your collegues. The industry (surveying) also has many networking events to get involved in.
Yes
Very good learning environment for anyone who is willing and keen to imporve thier knowlegde in the real estate industry. They value all of thier workers and good effort is sure to be praised. The more you put into the company in terms of dedictation, then the more you will get out of it which is very fair!
Be honest in your application process as otherwise you will be caught out in the long term. Do not be afraid to talk about your achievements highly and have self confidence, meanwhile also making show you express the fact that you are a team player as this is what is needed in the working environment you could be about to enter.
