My role is an essential bank at Barclays. The work I do on a day-to-day basis is help customers who bank with Barclays this could be anything from giving them financial advice or helping them work the mobile banking app or online banking. I have time to do my apprenticeship work by having one day a week to complete the topics in the libf book and on the website. I feel that it is going really well.
I have learnt new skills since starting on this Apprenticeship I now have learnt that my it skills are a lot better I now know how to work on the computers better to do my work. my maths skills are not the best and my coach is brilliant at helping me work things out.
I am on an apprenticeship which is going really well, I feel comfortable in my role as I am one of the oldest on my team I have enjoyed working with the colleagues on my team and it has been good. the apprenticeship work is challenging but over all really interesting and I look forward to completing and passing my exam.
I feel that the apprenticeship day could be a little more organised however the structure of the programme is average. I do feel that we could benefit from a little more time to understand some of the information we are learning about. I do understand that I am expected to study on my own time as well at home.
I feel that the support could be a little better concerning my apprenticeship the communication levels are not as good as it should be. The support that I receive in my 121 is good and I take on board any points that are made to make my work level better.
The support I receive from my training provider is great I feel that she is very knowledgeable around the work that we need to complete. The support and help I get helps me towards passing my exam at the end so that I can gain my qualification at the end of the 18 months.
I feel that the qualification that I will get when completing and passing my exam will be great in understanding retail banking and conduct of business. I will understand the rules and regulations so that I can help my customers understand how our processes work when they bank with us.
The extra activities to get involved with when working at Barclays are bake sales and buffet days, charity based activities this could be anything from getting involved with children and need and other charity based projects. I also know that Barclays have a citizenship community where we as colleagues can reach out to the community and help children in schools understand how work life is once they have left. This gives them the opportunity to find out about apprenticeship schemes that they can explore after leaving.
Yes
I would recommend Barclays to a friend because they have diversity in the workplace anyone can work here providing they want to achieve something at the end of it. learning new things and understanding the processes is challenging but rewarding. The colleagues in Barclays are fantastic at making you feel welcome and its a real saying that your workmates become family at the end of it because they are so helpful and understanding to any situation that is at hand.
The tips and advice I would give to others applying to Barclays is that they should try if they want to achieve something really great and branch out there to build there confidence. I was a really shy person when I first started and now I feel that I can say hi to anyone. I would say if you can say hello and ask someone how there day is then that's all you need. Having the best repor with the customer is the best thing you can do as telephony banker its great and really rewarding.
