On a day to day basis i stand and run a super 4 machine which packs fruit pastils into tubes and during the day / every shift i do checks every hour on them to make sure they are okay for consumers e.g make sure the weight and code is right.
i have not learnt any new skills but i am in the middle of getting trained on a machine and while doing that on a day to day basis i am developing alot of new skills as i have never ran a machine before so everything is new to me
i am not enjoying this apprentice at the moment as when i first applied for the job in the description it said i would be doing alot of different things such as helping out in projects , working with different support functions like quality and i&r but that hasnt happened.
Its not stuctured or organised in any way shape or form , if i am honest the 2nd year has got a little bit better as we have a manager that cares and comes into work where as the first year our manager didnt come into work and with it being 1st year of a new job we didnt know what to do on a day to day basis so we did nothing.
when i first started this apparentice i didnt get any support which was difficult qhen starting a new job as i didnt know what to do but the 2nd year has improved as i now have a hands on manager and i know if i needed something i would go to him.
i get no support i never have since day one and i think the issue is communcation because kirklees college and nestle dont really link together or communcate and my college tutor is new to this course so we have got to have alot of paient when it comes to asking questions and she never knows the answer.
non i dont feel like my training provider helps me to peform better in my role as they dont really have anything to fo with me on a daily basis and they are never hear within thr factory to see how i am getting on while learning how to develope skills
No there isnt anymore there used to be what i know of before i started and in my first year i used to go to schools and connect with other companies in networking events but due to cut backs and all the apparentices being on shifts this no longer happens. The only time something was to happen is a nigh out outside of work what you have got to organise yourself.
No
With the experience i have had on starting my apprentice i wouldnt reccomend unless nestle / our training provider got sorted out and new what to do with us etc. When i start liking my job is when i would reccomend it but now i wouldnt tell anyone to apply or start working for nestle.
i would tell people to ask on there interview day what the job is actually going to be like on a day to day basis just so they know what they are getting a job in doing and not really look at the job description too much as that is for all nestle sites accross the uk not just for fawdon
