My daily tasks include preparing EGAs which involves interacting with the client regularly to get the information we need and responding to emails. I usually work in a team of around 3-6 people depending on the size of the client company and how complicated the audit is. I usually work around 8:30 - 6 but longer in busy season.
I have developed a lot of excel skills through the work i complete and also have developed a lot of confidence when working with lots of people and interacting with new clients each week, I have also matured a lot through working at PwC as I am working with a lots of people in their early to late 20s
there are lots of opportunities to build good social relationships within the office which makes work more enjoyable. The work itself is interesting and is constantly varied as you are working at different clients for a few weeks at a time. I also like that we take breaks from work regularly to go to college for a change of scenery.
When i first joined the programme did not feel that well organised and the first few weeks were quite stressful as we had to pay for hotels out of our own money for a week in london which we did not expect but the programme gets better year on year.
When I joined i was assigned a people manager and a buddy who are there to mentor me and I can ask them questions, I did not feel that my people manager was very approachable to start with but i have recently got a new one who I gel with much better.
Kaplan are really helpful and there is a live chat which you can use to speak to a tutor when you are not at college. They will also get back to you via email if there is anything they cannot answer straight away. They also provide very good resources to study with.
I don't feel like I am able to apply what i learn at college in work and usually by the time it comes to using something i learned in college it has already been like a year since I have sat the relevant exam so I have forgotten it all.
There are lots of social events that are organised by the social committee in the office and many sports events which happen every few months between other offices and clients. We also have an annual christmas lunch and a summer ball which is a formal event where we all get to dress up
Yes
It is a very good way to get experience in the financial audit sector and there is a large majority of young people who you will work with which will make it feel more social. PwC is also a well renowned company who will definitely look good on your CV when applying for future jobs.
A lot of the interview process can be found online so do your research before so you are most prepared. Research PwC professional framework and think of some ways you can demonstrate each of the competencies as this will be asked in the interview. Also try to show some personality as PwC like to employ a variety of people from different backgrounds so you will stand out if you have something interesting to say.
