My day to day role includes, completing cost segregation for the expenditure of a variety of projects, assessing the quantum of capital allowances available. Additionally I am heavily involved with ad hoc real estate advice, ranging from asset retirement obligations, leasehold improvements and others. I also spend a large portion of my time completing proposals for new work
I have learned many skills as a result of my apprenticeship at PwC. Data analytics skills are, I believe, fundamental to my job role and a heavy portion of my role has been revolved around this. Additionally, I have learned a variety of soft skills and greater enhanced my interpersonal skills.
I greatly enjoy my programme, there is the correct balance of had work and reward which I find to be very motivating for success. In my team, there is a considerable amount of support readily available which is key for my personal development. The college days are also very enjoyable.
The programme is partially well structured. However, a vast majority of the information regarding the examination and qualification side of the programme is not readily available and will only be provided with multiple requests from relevant teams. I find this rather frustrating at the best of times. However, the on the job training is extremely effective
I receive high volumes of support from my employed however this is for the most part only from my team. I am aware of other avenues for development, however I have no experienced these yet. Also all employees are assigned a career coach who greatly assists with any development that is required
I find the training provided is inadequate. The bulk of the tuition was completed in 2018 with the exam being over 5 months away from the end of tuition, with minimal revision sessions following. I believe this is the central issue with difficulties of exams. However, when in the classes, they tutors are very effective.
Very well, kaplan take pride in each student and ensure adequate support if provided at each stage. Wether it be from the tutor of coach, the support is readily available. I am very satisfied with this aspect of the apprenticeship from kaplan so far. The tutors are always available via phone!
Yes, there are at least 1/2 social activites per month, which I frequently attend. These are a wide variety of events, not primarily centred around drinking, there are also weekly drinks which are frequently attended by many of the team which promoted inclusion of all at them, rather positively.
Yes
Very rewarding career however it requires very proactive learning and attention as most support is available however not always advertised. It requires common sense above anything. Also, there is great potential for advancing career and hard work is always rewarded. I would definitely recommed this career to any one interested!
Ensure revision is completed in a timely fashion, actively seek work. Prior to applying ensure relevant experience is met and that you are aware of the pwc values, which are always assessed. And as with most things, confidence is key which is defintely evaluated at every stage of the career
