On a day to day basis I am creating and amending assignee's tax returns. I am in the expatriate side of it so I deal with people who have had UK workdays or are on assignment for their company in either the UK or overseas and so therefore deal with the various expatriate tax rules.
My job has enabled me to develop a lot of new skills. You are given a lot of responsibility day to day to get the work completed to a high level of quality and also to meet deadlines. I have also improved my communication skills as not only are you speaking to colleagues, but I also communicate with assignee's regarding their tax returns.
Overall the programme is enjoyable as the team I work with is a mix of all ages. There are several school leavers like myself combined with many others who are older than ourselves. Therefore it enables you to broaden your friendship groups as there are people of all ages to speak to.
Our programme is very well structured and organised as the company has everything in place for it to be successful. This very much starts from the joining process where you are able to meet your colleagues early on. We have regular contact with our support teams who ensure we are happy with everything going on.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. I have regular catch ups with my assigned people manager who aids my support throughout the apprenticeship. The team I work with always make sure that we are aware that we are able to contact or speak to them whenever we are in need of help.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. Our tutors are in regular contact with us via email to ensure we are where we need to be with the progress with our qualification. They also make it clear we are able to contact them with any queries or questions we may have with the course.
My employer ensures that the qualification I am completing relates to the work I will be doing on a daily basis. This therefore means I will learn subjects through my training provider which I will be able to apply to my daily job which therefore improves the quality of my work.
Every month there are socials for the Birmingham office which enables you to interact with other people across different teams within the Birmingham office. There are also emails sent regularly which provide opportunities for you to participate in sporting activities. These can range from more popular sports to less popular ones.

PwC is a great company with a great platform. The application process is easy and methodical and once you join, there is a vast support network whether it be official or not. The support teams always provide their help when needed but your colleagues also are always there if you ever need someone to talk to.
The application process is relatively straightforward and follows a process similar to many other employers. The interviewers are always very kind and always want the best for you so I would recommend that you be yourself as they are usually checking to see whether or not you would be a good fit for the company.
