I work with electrical and instrumentation. the daily tasks are to maintain all the electrical and instrumentation on the gas sites on the patch. on a daily basis i will see my mentor and line manager while on site or while at the training i will interact with other apprentices, trainers. My responsibilities are to learn the job role by watching and asking questions. at the moment what i do on a day to day bais is sit in a classroom being overrun with infomation not relevant to my job but it is a government requirement.
i have learnt how to wire a panel. other courses we have done i do not feel i have learnt anything from as to much information is crammed in to such a short period of time
i enjoy the working with the people i work with, but i feel there is too much pressure put on us with the BTEC as it is too much to take on in the period of time we are given on each subject
On site i feel valued as there is always someone there to help. however when at the training centre i feel that the views of the apprentices are over looked and when we bring issues up i feel that they are not dealt with. also at the training centre i feel more like a prisoner than an apprentice.
i feel that we have not had enough time spent on the job training. we are doing a BTEC at the moment and i feel the that the structure is terrible. we are having 6 week course spread over one or two weeks and i feel i am not learning anything due to the fact so much information is being piled on top of me and not having the time to take it in as by the time one subject is finished we have already moved on to the next
there are people out there willing to help but i feel with some issues they are over looked
when on site there is always someone there to help
some months i am short of money due to previous lifestyle but the all costs are normally covered
at the training centre no because if you can not drive you are stuck here with nothing to do
Yes
very competative salary
just be yourslef and show that you are willing to work with others
