  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I come in the office, go through all my emails [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] I make sure my dashboards & spreadsheets are up to date - not forgetting to update my Cheltenham spreadsheet too! I create a list in my notes of what I want to get done today & prioritise them. • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained some experience coding (JavaScript, C++ and Python). I have gained experience writing Unix Shell Scripts. I've completed a training course for MQ (Product of IBM). Created & analysed data on dashboards using Splunk. I have developed my communication skills, talking to various team members & other employees in different sectors of the bank. Improved my ability to prioritise certain responsibilities and manage my time more efficiently.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme hasn't officially started yet, but I am given increasing responsibility in my job role on a daily basis - the tasks have been diverse and important which has been good for my confidence. Everyone in the office is chilled out - and always keen to help/explain things that I don't understand. Have a good relationship with my Line Manager, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who has been very patient with me (but also giving me some challenging tasks!)

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I don't really have an answer for this section because as I stated above, my course hasn't really started yet because we had to wait for the government to approve it. I have been in contact regularly with the provider who are keen on getting a move on with things ASAP.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have so far received a lot of support from my employer, my Line Manager has weekly meetings with me, the people in charge of the apprenticeship in-house have been keeping me up to data with progress and the people around me at work have been very helpful when I've needed something.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that the training will help some specifics within my work, but I've discovered that lots of it is being able to communication & find the right people to help you out. So I believe that once it starts, the two will mix together very well [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]

  • 9a. Would you recommend UBS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The work ethic in the company is great, Line managers appear and lead by example (with evidence) and everyone in the office is great. The opportunities within the bank are endless, and networking is very easy and simple. They also offer internal courses to move around inside the bank too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to UBS?
  • Be honest in your application (and talk yourself up a bit!). Qualifications from school don't make you who you are and if you have specific skills, use them to your advantage and make sure people know about them.
