I am currently doing Mailbox management for a client. This means that I answer client email queries and user data from spreadsheets to set up calendar invites to send to the client. I attend a lot of daily check up meetings so that the mailbox can be closely monitored for progress.
I haven't had the opportunity to develop any new skills unfortunately. I have learnt a lot academically but I have never been on a long term project where I've had the chance to be taught new skills. I usually end up on roles where I do basic admin tasks.
I enjoy going to the company events as they are often very creative and well organised. The events are a nice way to network informally with colleagues in a more relaxed environment and it makes you feel more apart of the company. Apart from that I've rarely enjoyed the roles that I've been on as I haven't had the chance to develop any new skills yet.
Its improving but its still not very organised. I'm glad that we have the opportunity to have more study hours to gain a better work/study balance. However, it is hard to find work within the company that relates to the academic studies. Also the training provider is very disorganised; we often don't find out our study dates until a lot later and until recently the teaching hasn't been great
Fortunately all of the line managers that I have come across have been extremely supportive. Most people directly linked to apprentices in the company are quite supportive but they mostly have to be chased a lot if there are any issues.
It depends on the tutor. Some tutors have been really helpful but most are not. For example in the past I have received feedback for my work which was completely non-beneficial to my assignment work. This resulted in a lot of confusion and ambiguity. Haven't been that impressed with the training provider overall and I feel as they can be more supportive. So far it has only been my recent skills coach who helps with my dissertation who has been genuinely supportive.
Learning the content has really helped me to grasp the more complex of the aspects of the business. Learning the basics of coding, data and other IT principles has meant that I am able to pick up new tasks quickly and understand objectives that my projects are aiming to deliver. Unfortunately, I have rarely had the opportunity to put the knowledge that I've learnt into practice.
There are many opportunities within Accenture to get involved in extra-curricular activities. For example, there are many professional networking events throughout the year e.g. technology events, ACCN events, christmas parties. There are also many groups that you can join within the company e.g. mental health, AACN, engineering etc, which means that there are loads of opportunities to network with people who have the same interests as you.
Yes
If they are passionate about technology/IT then I definitely think that the apprenticeship would be a great way for them to explore their interests. If you have strong technical skills then it is very easier to gain recognition within Accenture, which will help you develop your skills even more.
Ensure that you are 100% passionate about technology/IT before you apply. For example if you enjoy coding, building websites, constructing computers or anything similar then this would definitely be a good place to go. Also, I do believe that this course if more suited to those who have a mathematical or logical thinking mind; as IT has a strong foundation in maths. For the application process I would advise the applicants to be themselves and be as authentic as possible.
