I am responsible for specific lines in which I order components for and communicate with suppliers to arrange the best delivery date to best suit the company. I also release orders onto the line to be packed and then distributed to the customer. On top of that I also check I have components for future orders and their availability.
I have improved my communication skills and confidence skills through meetings and external training. I have also developed IT skills through being taught day -to-day processes and even more as I move departments. I have also gained everyday skills such as being able to use the photocopier and also scanning paper work across to people.
I thoroughly enjoy my Apprenticeship with AstraZeneca, it has gave me the opportunity to grow and strengthen my position within the business world. Completing my foundation degree in International Trade will also give me a platform to progress my career in the future as the degree is relevant and highly useful to companies who trade internationally.
The structure of my foundation degree is well laid out as it is all online learning through the Institute of Export and Plymouth University. it is clear what modules we are learning, when the deadline is and how to submit the assignment. A tutor also comes in every month to see how we are doing and explain any issues we have with the topics.
AstraZeneca are very supportive when it comes to studying. Apprentices are given one day every week as a study day in which we can complete any work we need to do whether that is reading and making notes or writing our assessment questions. If I have an issue I can confidently ask whom ever and know I will be supported.
A tutor from the Institute of Export comes to visit us once a month for 3 hours but if we have any issues with the course we can easily contact him or email the Institute directly. The Institute depending on the course hold fortnightly calls in which a tutor will go through aspects of the course that students usual struggle with and we can ask any questions about aspects we are struggling with. Before the question is released there are mock assignments we can complete and be given feedback for when the actual question is released.
My qualification helps me in my role at AstraZeneca as studying international trade during the Brexit transition helps me understand the situation for the company. I can perform better in my role as I understand trade agreements and how AstraZeneca successfully trades internationally and has offices internationally. International trade gives me a greater knowledge of the business world.
Throughout the site there are multiple out of office activities in which anyone employed by AstraZeneca can attend. I have been at AstraZeneca for approximately 6 months now and i have thoroughly enjoyed working here. The working environment both inside and outside of the office is enjoyable, as the space is modern and up to date. The outside environment is kept clean and tidy and the people who work here are friendly.
Applying to work at AstraZeneca through an Apprenticeship i would recommend that you update your CV and make it look professional with no spelling mistakes or bad grammar. Also research the company, research their products and where they are based around the world by doing this it will show you have put time and effort into preparing for the interview.
