Working on service now to aid employees with any pay related queries or issues they have. Once my tickets on service now have been resolved then I need to check that our payroll provider will process them accordingly for next payroll. This is done by checking the simulated payslips to see all the payments and changes have been made. I also perform numerous monthly processes leading up to Payroll so we can track and audit everything on the system.
Working in Payroll, my Excel skill have developed significantly. My time management and organisational skills have developed especially when handling tickets on service now as you need to ensure that all queries are resolved and in a timely manner. My presentation competency has developed due to the many presentations we have done to the different functions within HR.
My Programme has exceeded expectations and is definitely something that I enjoy. My programme provides a large amount of variety and I regularly work on new tasks. This provides enjoyment for me as I'm continuously learning new things and developing my skills. The team I work within as well are all very nice and easy to work with which always makes my day to day more enjoyable.
I feel my programme is very well structured. I have been lucky enough to have been put into a rotational programme. This means after a year in my current role I will be transferring to another HR function. This means I can gain new experiences and skills within other roles and will getting an even better understanding about what I enjoy and what I am good at within HR.
I receive a lot of support on a weekly basis. When I am set as task, my employer and colleague take it me through it and ensure I understand it and If I don't then I can always ask for additional help. I also have weekly 1 to 1s with my employer to check up on how I am doing and see if I have any issues or queries.
I don't feel as though I get as much support as I would have liked. I feel this is down to our course all being done online. For me, this means there is much less engagement and communication is not as effective as it could be as I would usually have to arrange a call to go through my questions which can be timely.
I can not answer this question fully as our course has only just began.
There are always activities to get involved in. Within my team we regularly go out after work for drinks. Myself and the other apprentices across AZ and Medi meet up and do team bonding and networking activities such as escape rooms and bowling. Professional networking events are also something that is offered here. I am attending an employment law seminar as I have been told this will help me with my CIPD course in the future.

Very good working atmosphere. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive throughout my apprenticeship. AstraZeneca take very good care of their employees which is shown throughout the large number of company benefits that are offered as well as paying for development courses such as my CIPD course. There is also great opportunity for development within the company, whether this be getting promoted or moving to a different function.
During the application process, actively demonstrate you have an interest and a passion of the science and what AZ do. Showing interest in this area will leave a positive impression on the employer and will show you align to some of the company's values.
