My role usually involves working with engineers to produce technical drawings using CAD software. Having some input into the design aspects of each project I work on. Being an apprentice at Arup has made me a much more rounded person, constantly contributing to my academic knowledge, work based skills such as CAD, understanding of design principles and my confidence. Being a degree apprentice is a lot more hard work than it is fun and games. Finding time to study whilst working full time is tricky, but not impossible. Although working in the industry does give me access to people who will have answers to any questions relating to my studies.

Studying a civil engineering degree directly relates to the work I do on a daily basis. Although some of the subjects we study are not necessarily applied in the work place.
