My day to day role involves providing UK outbound and inbound assignee's with an insight into the tax implications of their upcoming assignment or permanent transfers, in and out of the UK. In short, we provide them with information on how their income will be subject to taxation depending on certain aspects such as their residency position, domicile, level of remittance etc.
I have definitely developed on my communication skills and technical knowledge, in respect to the tax implications in the United Kingdom. I have learned to be clear and concise and have had good exposure to client calls and meetings, which has allowed me to become more confident when speaking and voicing my opinions.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme, thus far. Everyone in my team is extremely helpful and truly care about my development at PwC. Many of my peers have given me feedback on numerous occasions, which has allowed me to understand what my weaknesses are, and how I can develop on these.
It is quite well structured. We have had numerous training sessions which allowed me to understand my day to day role at PwC and what is expected of me. The level of work related support is exceptional as most people are willing to thoroughly explain anything which I am unclear about. However, I feel that in terms of studying, it can get difficult at times. For my programme, I do not get any additional study leave, apart from the days at college.
The work related support is exceptional. We are all assigned with career coaches and buddies, who are always available for us to express any worries or concerns which we may have. Those in my team are very approachable and always make themselves available to answer any technical queries which I may have.
Our tutor's are always available via phone call or email to assist us if we are having any difficulties with our course. My tutor has made it clear that whenever he is free, he will try his best to help us out and he is very approachable and helpful.
My qualification has helped me thoroughly to perform better in my day to day role as the content reflects everything which I do at work. I have been able to put the theory into practice and develop my understanding on certain technical information. This has enabled me to be more confident at work.
Yes, there are many social activities and professional networking events. There are also many volunteering opportunities and PwC encourages us to volunteer. For example, during my induction week, there was an activity whereby we worked with a local community to recover and plant trees. This definitely reflects our values of 'care' and 'making a difference'
Yes
Extremely helpful team and the flexibility aspect is a great quality. We are able to work from home, if need be, PwC is definitely a multi-cultural organisation which is understanding of different faith's. As a Muslim, I am able to make my daily prayers on time, whilst at work, and plan my day in accordance to this.
For me personally, I felt that the interview had quite a laid back vibe which I liked. This made me feel comfortable and allowed me to voice myself much better than I expected. The onboarding process is great, the student recruitment team are always available to answer any queries you may have so do not hesitate to ask any questions!
