Heavy goods vehicle technician/mechanic and day to day involves 6 weekly services and regular repairs including clutches and brakes. it can also involve many other repairs in electrical systems and diagnosing faults in the vehicle. I also use the diagnosing computer on a daily basis to find the faults.
I have learnt many new skills while carrying out my apprenticeship. everything from diagnosing to mechanical repairs which I could not do before. it has also opened up my knowledge to all of the things with trucks and what they can do.
Very organised. everything I was told was carried out when they said it would and the way the company works and get things done is very good.
I receive a good amount of support. if I have any issues or problems with a job I know who to ask and where to ask.
I received a lot of support when doing my training. especially from the other staff in the workshop who have done the same training programme.
It gave me the knowledge to do the things I need to do in the workshop and helped me with learning new things. it put me on the right path to do the job correctly
Not at this depot. we try to do things with the workshop staff in our spare time.
