My role involves carrying out maintenance and repair work on customers vehicles to the highest of standards and with cost effectiveness and in the time frame given. my role also involves presenting my self as professionally as possible and representing the company to an exceedingly high standard everywhere I go.
I have learned many new skills such as understanding the systems and components on a vehicle and how the work and why we use certain systems as well as techniques of diagnosing faults within these systems. I have also developed better communication skills and have learned how to present myself and represent my company in an professional manor.
I really enjoyed the program. I enjoyed learning new skills and technical knowledge and diagnostic techniques to help aid me in the workshop and make me a better all round technician. I have also enjoyed being able to push myself to extended my knowledge. I have also enjoyed meeting new people and creating new friendships and developing better communication skills.
the program as a whole was very well organised, my only complaint would have to be with the lack of assessors skillnet provided I went through a year with out seeing anyone and it made it a little bit harder to progress. but all in all organisation at college and back in the workshop was very good.
I have had a lot of support from my employer, weather it be if I was struggling with something at college I always had someone to ask questions to help me with whatever I was stuck with or weather I was struggling with something in the workshop there was always someone there to help me. my employer also supplied and textbooks or reading material required for college
I had a fair amount of support from the training provider if ever I had questions about the work set or certain aspects of the technical side of things I always had someone to ask. if I didn't understand something someone was always there to sit down with me and help until I could grasp and good understanding.
what I learnt during my apprenticeship has helped me a great deal in my day to day working life, I have been able to use a lot of the skills and knowledge I have leant to better myself in the workshop environment. I feel I understand my role in the workshop a lot better and the industry I am a part of a lot more than now then when I first started.
There have been many social activities for apprentices with in the company for example all apprentices get t he chance to go to the DAF Layland factory as well as an evening of bowling to help us get to know one an other a bit better before college starts. apprentices also get the opportunity to go to castle coombs skid pan to help further their driving skill
Yes
I would recommend imperial commercials because it is the ideal workplace, support is always there when needed and they are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you succeed. there is also a very good workshop environment and there are always opportunities to learn and better yourself as a technician.
I would advise anyone applying to research imperial commercials it always helps to have a good knowledge of the company. I would also advise preparing questions that are relevant to you. also it helps to be calm and just be yourself, dress smartly and present yourself in the best way possible.
