On a day to day basis I am required to support Clients with complex tax issues. I will regularly speak to clients on the phone or via email. I often link in with HMRC to solve these issues. It involves a lot of team working and communication with senior members such as partners.
I have learnt many skills during my time here at PwC. One of the most important skills I have learnt is time management and effective concise communication. Another skill is learning to delegate which sounds simpler than it actually is and to use your team as a means of support.
I have had a varied experience during my team here as I have experienced working with a variety of teams. Each team provides a completely different experience from the other. However, from this is why I would say I have thoroughly enjoyed my programme as it keeps every day different from the day before.
From the beginning the programme has been structured in a very fine manner with training programmes clearly set out and communicated to us. However, this is in regards to the internal training. For the external training the communication has been lacking and often requires chasing up with the central team to understand what is required of us for college dates and exams.
The amount of support I receive goes beyond my expectation. Joining a corporate company I didn't expect people to take the time out for me in which they have from the most junior of staff to the most senior, always ready to lend an ear and provide support with whatever that is required.
The support from the provider could be improved vastly. Other than actual days whilst in college the support outside is very minimal, albeit the onus is upon myself to reach out to them. During our time in college the team are very well versed in their area of expertise and are very helpful.
It varies between the team that you work with. In my first team the qualification provided no support to the day to day work that I was required to carry out. However, during my time in a different team the work was very relevant to what was studied in my professional qualification.
Yes there is. There is a specific PwC app designed to bring people together through extra curricular activities. In individual team people set up their own sporting teams and social meet ups. People are very welcoming to new ideas and happy for others to set up a social get together.
Yes
Working at PwC I have found that the opportunities available to you are limitless. Especially at the early days of my career I have been granted various career options and exposure to business experiences I would never imagine at the stage that I'm at. Working your way up in PwC holds invaluable value.
To be honest in your applications and to be yourself throughout every process of the application. I have found PwC to hold a very strong value with integrity. If you have anyone who has been to PwC then definitely take their advice on board and don't be shy to speak up and show who you are.
