My role consists of task based activities that help study managers get the correct pharmaceuticals to the correct sites around the world on time. Daily tasks: Creating packing orders for Study Managers, dealing with temperature excursions, project work. Daily interactions: Internal and external study managers, external companies for packing and distribution information.
I have improved my communication skills since I have regular interactions (skype and email) with a variety of people around the world. Qualifications: Working towards a BSc International trade degree. I have one study day per work to do my university work. I am learning about the supply chain of clinical trials and what it takes to get a drug to the market.
Work: I enjoy the tasks I do in my day to day role at AZ. This is due to me having a variety of tasks to act upon which can be different every time. Therefore each day is different which I enjoy. I work within a great team in R&D Supply Chain study management with a good company culture. So far my time here has lived up to expectations.
Induction: I had a two week induction before I started my role at AZ. his helped me learn more about the company and what my role is. Training: I have received lots of training sessions to ensure I am competent in the tasks I need to perform. Study: I have one study day a week to complete my university work.
Manager: I regularly catch up with my manager to let her know where I am up to with my work and also my university studies. She checks on my work load and how I am dealing with it. Training: All necessary training is provided for me to feel confident in performing tasks.
I feel like I have all the support I need to achieve a good grade in my degree. Tutor: My tutor visits me and the other apprentices doing the same course once a month. This is when he sees how we are doing, teaches us content from the course and also provides us with advice in our assignments.
The qualification I am doing doesn't directly help me with tasks I carry out on a normal working day. However, my degree helps me understand how the business runs and why certain decisions may be made by senior management. This can help me understand why I do certain tasks.
There is a gym on the Astra Zeneca Macclesfield site which I am a member at. There is also a 5 a side football pitch where I play with work colleagues twice a week for an hour. I also socialise with other apprentices at AZ and other colleagues outside of work.
Yes
Support: I have been provided with great amounts of support which definitely helped me settle into my role within AZ. Benefits: AZ provide its employees with several benefits. Its is also great to work for company like AstraZeneca that is providing life changing pharmaceuticals to many patients around the world. It is really rewarding to know that what I do can help improve peoples quality of life.
Education: Have a strong CV which shows AZ that you have good qualifications in what you have done; whether it be GCSEs, A-levels, BTECs etc. Work experience: I think that it is important to improve your applications that you have had experiences outside of school. For example it will benefit you if you have done the Duke of Edinburgh awards or had a part time job.
