during the first 13 weeks I was in a training course where we were able to learn how to code so the day would consist of speaking with the training providers as they give us tasks and knowledge to go through and when we need any help/guidance we could talk to the coaches. once the training course had finished we had then started work on projects. these days have consisted of working within a team to achieve the daily tasks which have been set.
Yes, I have learnt new coding languages, such as; Ruby, JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS, etc. which have allowed me to expand my knowledge in this area. Also, I have developed many other skills like team-working abilities, communication skills, etc. which has allowed me to become a better coder and worker
i thoroughly enjoyed the programme, as someone who came into this apprenticeship with minimal knowledge of coding before I had joined the course I have been able to vastly develop my knowledge from this big learning curve which has made me a better coder as well as a better worker.
the first 13 weeks of the apprenticeship was very well structured as we were on a learning to code course and I was able to go through it with ease, however when it had come to the placement there had been some confusion with the portfolio which was needed to be created so a lot of time was wasted trying to sort something out which should've been sorted before we went on placement
Since joining, the support which is available and which I receive was fantastic. this support had allowed me to develop my own skills as I was able to get support from people who are very experienced in their respective fields and so whenever I had found myself to be stuck there was always someone there to help me get through it.
throughout the training course we had received a fair amount of support which had allowed us to test ourselves rather than just getting answers. however when It had come to our placement the support was minimal in regards to helping us build our portfolio, but it did pick up within a short period of time
it helps me greatly as I had come into this apprenticeship with minimal knowledge in coding and so throughout the course with all the new knowledge ive gained and the knowledge ive built upon it has allowed me to become better in the workplace and work more efficiently in the work environment
yes, within the workplace there are many extra curricular activities. there is a group called Sport and social club where you pay £5 a month and with that £5 you are open to a range of activities, such as; takeaway every fortnight, weekly football, weekly badminton, etc. this range of activities allow for us to meet people we normally wouldn't communicate with in the office
Yes
I would recommend CGI to a friend as there is support for someone who is new to a workplace and is new to their job role. as well as this, the offices are in very friendly environments and CGI go above and beyond to ensure that their employees are happy in their workplace
what advice I would give to someone applying to CGI is to be open minded, be open to learn new things and develop your skills. there are many people here which are supportive and want you to grow within the company. another piece of advice id give is that take all opportunities which come to you.
