I am responsible for ensuring that client satisfaction surveys are completed and for monitoring the bid spend on different opportunities. I also monitor the performance of directors against KPI and create reports and Powerpoints for the directors to present. I enjoy the role because I get to meet lots of people and have also trained as a mental health first aider, graduate rep, wellbeing rep and charity ambassador.
Yes I have learnt confidence and communication skills. Also I gained attention to detail. I became more able to use Excel and I completed Foundation Prince 2. I am better at solving solving technical issues, as well as using CRM, Ensemble and Intellex software. The combination of work and studying has also improved my organisation, time management and interpersonal skills
I really enjoy it! I believe it is the best decision I made because I get to try many different roles and learn lots of different things. I have grown both professionally and personally. The only problem is that compared with normal university students I do not have as much free time e.g: 6 week term breaks and only 2 hours of lectures a day which can make meeting friends at university difficult :)
I have found the structured is disorganised because it has changed during the program. I was first told I was completed a sponsored degree and that the modules in the 3rd year would count towards this grade and would be a normal degree. However, after the first year the program changed to a degree apprenticeship so additional apprenticeship work was necessary and the final grade calculated differently.
My employer is very supportive and helps me with my degree. They have given me a mentor and lots of opportunities to do my research within the office. However, different projects have different opinions of this. Some people have not had the same experience so it depends on which area you work in.
I do not believe that the support given by the training provider was very good because they have allocated the dissertation tutors randomly. The majority of business students have a technical supervisor and vice versa. This means that the tutors do not understand the subject matter of students dissertations so are less able to offer appropriate support.
I feel that the qualifications have enabled me to understand better how the business works. However, I believe that the most learning has been through my work itself because often the modules are not directly related to my role. Furthermore, the modules are theory based so it can be difficult to apply this in practice.
Yes there are some social events which I take part in and I am also a grad rep so organise some events myself. I have attended the every women in technology awards as well which has been useful because I got to understand about the achievements of women in technology.
Yes
I would recommend it because it is a great company to start your career and there are lots of opportunities to change roles. Also I really enjoyed the oppportunites to develop my career from such a young age and to spend time understanding which roles are best suited to my personality.
I think it is really important that applicants be themselves with the interviewers. I think people should recognise that there is a lot of work involved and understand whether whether they would prefer to gain a head start at their career rather than the typical and more social university route. If an applicant is sure of why they want to do the program and understand how important it is then they will be able to speak naturally during the interview and the interviewer will notice a genuine interest in the program.
