As an audit associate, I spend time working on different clients at different client sites all across the country. We review the financial statements of a company and perform several, thorough procedures to grant us and share holders, assurance over the accuracy of the financial disclosures. Also, we provide any stakeholders/shareholders the peace of mind that the performance stated by the company of themselves, is accurate.
The new skills I have developed are to be more thorough in my work. I have been able to improve the quality of my work and provide a more detailed reasons for my beliefs and opinions. Furthermore, this apprenticeship has allowed me to improve my time management. I have been able to organise myself in a much more efficient way, and prioritise tasks which are more important.
I have very much enjoyed the experience so far. I believe the programme has been tried and tested in the past for several year, and there is constant development going on within it. EY are constantly looking at new ways they can improve the overall experience for their apprentices. To summarise, I believe the programme is a great tool for someone who wants to progress in the financial/accounting industry.
I believe the programme is organised/structure to a very high level. The structure is clearly set-out from the beginning. The exams, study days and the actual on the job days are all very clearly explained, and work well in order to allow the apprentice to achieve to the best of their ability.
EY provides endless support to it's apprentices. All apprentices are allocated a counsellor who they can approach with any queries or concerns they may have. The counsellor alos tends to be someone who is quite high-up in the office/department so it means they have the ability to make any adjustments or take action, if required.
I believe there is adequate support provided by the training provider towards obtaining the qualification. Prior to most exams there are classroom days which are hosted by a professional teacher. Also exam/revision materials are provided for every exam. For those exams which are home-study only, materials are also provided for this. There is constant support available from the provider, for anyone who may require it.
I believe the training provided by the training provider, is very beneficial in allowing the apprentice to perform at a higher level at work. I believe the training provided is the core foundation and the basic understanding to ensure there is a bit of background knowledge, allowing for better performance and increased accuracy in the real world.
There are always numerous extra-curricular activities available for someone to get involved with. There are football games held every Wednesday, as well as monthly socials for the entire office. After the completion of a job, there is a social held for the members of the team, in which they may go for a meal or take part in an activity such as bowling or ice-skating.
Yes
I would highly recommend EY to a friend, as the experience I have had so far has been exceptional. I have enjoyed all aspects of the apprentice including college days, on-the-job training and the social activities which are also available. I believe for someone like myself, EY is a fantastic to get their professional career started.
For anyone applying to EY I would advise them to try and participate in as many extra-curricular activities as possible. They are all usually very enjoyable and allows you to network with other professionals who you may never meet. It also looks very good on your personal portfolio and can help in career progress.
