My Daily role mostly consist of helping senior member of our team to complete audits. They provide me with a variety of work. I have worked on many different accounts such as cash, accounts payable, accounts receivables and also i have performed transaction testing. The senior coaches me through each of these new tasks that i perform.
I have learnt many new skills so far. For example i have learnt about the different types of accounts that we have to audit and what we do on each of them. Furthermore at college we study to be able to complete the accounting qualifications, so during this time we learn many different theories.
I enjoy the program as with EY i have been able to work on many different audits on different companies. Working at a big 4 means i get to go into big companies such as as Coca-Cola and look into their accounts to see how they work. This is very interesting.
I think that my program is quite well organised we did have some issues at the start as it wasn't clear what we were doing but now it seem to be a lot better with a more clear structure of our year so we can plan ahead into the future.
I have received quite a lot of support form my employer. I am dyslexic and they have been able to provide me with some types of specialist software that help me to perform tasks easier that i would be able to without them. This software includes read and write with helps by reading out text on my screen.
We have received quite a lot of support from them however out college courses are quite short and seem rushed. I think it would be better if they lasted longer. I would also be good it they provided us with a our course materials further in advance so we can look over them before the course.
The qualifications help because they help to further my understanding meaning that i truly understand what i am doing and why i am doing it. The qualification also helps as it make you more qualified when you are interacting with clients as you will know more about what they want.
there are a few extra curricular activities for example they have a football team and many committee that you can join to help get you say. For example the CSR team which helps to decided what charity work we do and also we a social team that help plan office events like parties.
Yes
I would recommend EY to a friend who wanted to go into accounting because of the fact that its a big 4 firm. Meaning that you have a much greater spectrum of work that you would in a smaller firm. You get to be involved in auditing of some of the biggest companies in the world.
The main tip I would give is probably just to be yourself throughout the whole interview process as if you are meant to work here the interview process will find that out. i would also say to be very prepared for the final interview by running though lots of practice questions before it.
