On a typical day, I will be working on Audit clients with a set workload working to a set deadline which I would need to meet. My work would involve testing financial data presented in the clients statements in order to have comfort over the clerical accuracy of their calculations.
I have improved my communication skills, developed by speaking frequently with new people at client sites and internally at EY. my data analytics skills have also improved which has given me more confidence to apply more of a questioning mindset to my working helping achieve professional skepticism in my role.
There are some parts of the job which I do not enjoy such as the long hours and overly challenging deadlines, however overall I really enjoy it as it allows me to develop my skillset and opens up new opportunities for me going forward. I do like it really much.
The programme is well structured in terms of organisation and getting the job done hwoever I think it could be condensed in to a 3 year programme instead of 5 years as I think this time range is a bit extensive for an apprenticeship especially joining at such a young age.
I receive a lot of support from EY in both aspects of my role, the working side and the college side. I have a counsellor in place who is there for me to go to whenever I have any issues I need to raise. I also have other peers who are there to help.
This can vary, during home study I do not have much communication with the training providers at all, but when we are in college we spend a lot of time with the provider and the tutors are always friendly and happy to help with anything that we as a group need
The qualification definitely helps us in our daily role as it exposes us to the financials and calculations behind the numbers we audit on a daily basis. For example accounting rules, taxation of companies and the business strategies which they implement, our qualification gives us a better understanding of these
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in at EY, each month there are socials which are held at both internal and external venues. There are sporting groups to get involved in such as football and darts and table tennis. We also have EY badges that can be completed.
Yes
Its a good place to work, very friendly people that look after one another and are always there to help with any problems which you may have, great opportunities for development and opens doors in the future for anything which you are wanting to do in your career post EY
be open to the opportunity, enjoy the new challenges that you will face beginning your working career. try your best and you will get out what you put in, there will be lots of new faces you will meet and will probably make some life long friends from the company
