On a day to day basis I help my London brokers with tasks such as producing legal documents, finding information on Reinsurers and data analysis.
I've learnt a lot about team work which was an existing skill. New skills involve things such as; laws involving insurance, Reinsurance as a business, London markets.
I've not enjoyed the programme. It was advertised as a very appealing scheme, but since I joined it's been a disappointment and lacked a lot of support and organisation.
The structure has strict time frames, which don't cater to everyone's needs. If you fail 1 exam, you are still enrolled on to a new syllabus even though you have one outstanding. This causes a car crash of events and leads to multiple failures due to not being able to organise / put your time in to 1 exam at a time.
The employer has made efforts to help me with my studies by guiding me in the direction of experienced colleagues, however I haven't had my 80/20 % at all.
The training provider gives sessions, which have been somewhat beneficial, however the gaps between the sessions were long periods of time and often the sessions felt like they weren't as useful as my own study time could have been; due to my preferred way of studying being solo.
The qualification does help me with my role. It is very insurance based and a lot of what I've learnt does come in helpful on a day to day basis.
There are currently no extra activities.
Yes
It's a very good company to work for, I'd recommend them to join but I wouldn't recommend that they join the apprentice programme.
Research a lot in to your role beforehand
