Day to day I deal with multiple queries. These vary from outside the organisation to inside the organisation. I deal with queries arising from our offshore team, London team, underwriters and brokers. As soon as a risk gets placed in the market its is my responsibility to ensuring servicing of the client is met.
I have developed communication skills especially relating to professionalism within the company. I have learnt how to communicate with colleagues of different ages along with different levels of experience. I have also learnt about the insurance market. I have also learnt about competency and the importance of this in my role.
I do not enjoy this programme as much as I thought I would. I enjoy my work and the team I sit within, I also enjoy working towards my qualifications, Dip CII, however I do not enjoy the ever changing boundaries when its comes to evidencing that I am competent at my job.
My programme is not very well structured. All the apprentices and line managers get told different things and it is very hard to keep up with. We get told to do certain things and later down the line we get told this that is incorrect. It is extremely hard to manage everything as it is and the training provider are not making it any easier.
I receive a lot of support from my employer when it comes to my business unit. They help in terms of work, studying and completing the apprenticeship. this is all the support I feel as though I receive. If it wasn't for the business unit I was put into I might not have received the level of support I do.
I do not feel like I receive any support from my training provider. I feel as though our deadlines are pressing and have to be met however they do not meet their deadlines. Even when asking questions in respect to the apprenticeship, Reponses take ages to receive unless we copy in higher people at WTW.
My CII qualifications help towards my performance in my job role however the level 4 apprenticeship only deters my performance in my job role. This takes a significant amount of time which I could be using to develop in my job role. I do not have any time to complete this outside of work as I already do my studying for my CII qualifications then.
There are many extra-curricular activities to get involved in work. there are many professional networking events supported by the business and CII events which we can attend. There is a 5-a-side football team and there are often other events which we can get involved in if we choose to depending on what you like.
Yes
There is a good atmosphere at work and everyone is very willing to help. Everyone is extremely friendly which makes it a nice place to work. Within your business unit everyone makes time for you especially when you need help. You never have to be afraid to ask for help or assistance.
To be prepared to be welcomed into your team and try to go to as many events as possible. The work load is tough, and if you join on the apprenticeship team there is a lot of pressure on you and you have to put a lot of your own time into it. It is a very good company to work for.
