I am training to be a auditor, this means I have to visit client sites and go through their financial records with them, to confirm that the accounts are correct. In the office I do different jobs, such as accounts checking.
I have learnt the basics of auditing, and have improved skills in getting information from people effectively.
I enjoy the work and learn new things, it will be better when I am able to complete different work, as I am not experienced I work on similiar sections, but will have more variation as I work through the programme.
When I have done something well or passed my exams I am congratulated, I am also involved in work.
The programme is structure well with how the exams are spread out, however I would benefit from more access to the college, I find the self taught work difficult. Also I have to complete work based workbooks, which are not very beneficial and I do not learn anything from them, and they add extra pressure during exams.
It is difficult to get access to the college when it is a self taught module as you are not enrolled onto the course and so are not a priority, although there is occassionaly a hour that you can visit for. It would be good if it was clear about how you can visit college and to have set revision sessions in place so that you can prepare questions to go through with the tutor.
I am given time off work to study, and often jobs are moved around this. Sometimes though it can be difficult with long travelling near exams, and working overtime, as you cannot get much revision in during the evenings.
The salary is good for someone of my age and experience, travel costs are paid for by BDO most of the time so this is good.
There are events and activities organised which you can attend, sometimes these are hard to go to as you can work a distance away from the office so do not get back in time.
Yes
Because it is a good opportunity.
To research what the company does and what the sector you are applying for does. Also explain why you want to work for BDO specifically, as I was asked this during my interviews, and found it a difficullt question.
