Supporting development within my project with whatever tasks they give me, from planning upgrades/changes to implementing them. I role can be fairly varied with new software and tasks appearing requiring me to learn new things, which I really enjoying as it broadens my knowledge and exposes me to new experiences.
I have improved on my teamwork and communication soft skills as I use this daily in order to interact effecitvely with my team. I have also learned how to implement my previous programming knowledge effectively into a corporate environment, which is a key skill I really needed as its something you can't learn in school.
I really like the variation I get at work as it has exposed me to many different areas I hadn't considered and it is definitely an added challenge keeping up with university work at the same time as that helps improve my time management and other useful soft skills some as presenting.
As Fujitsu have been running this programme for a few years now they seem to have a good understanding of how it works allowing them to structure it well and easily accomodate for any issues you may have in it. They are also always very happy to hear your opinions and suggestions giving you an opportunity to have your say and improve it.
Fujitsu provide you with a mentor to help plan and complete your university work which is a great help as it can get very overwhelming at times. They also have various people in the company you can ask for help no matter what your issue is, which is quite reassuring.
Some of staff at Wincehster University can be a little unresponsive when you need help which isn't helpful when you also have to communicate with them around your job, but they have been doing the programme for many years so have a good idea of how to strucutre it.
After succesfully comjpleting my first semester I've found that some of the skills we've focused on such as time management, communicating and presenting have really helped me stay on top of my work in my day job as well as allowing me to look at tasks from different perspectives. The key skill for me personally would have to be the presentations as that has helped build my confidence and allowed to me find presenting a lot easier and less nerveracking.
Fujitsu offers plenty of events to its employees such as volunteering at local schools to pass on your knowledge and help them. They also offer networking events to allow you to meet people in more senior positions where you can ask them any questions you feel might help you get where you want to be in your career.
Yes
Fujitsu is a really nice company with a great community and lots of potentially for you to improve yourself both personally and professionally. They are also very supporting of their employees and allow for them to make role changes, for example if they feel they want to try something new.
Its a brilliant company with a great apprenticeship scheme. Due to the amount of apprentice and graduate schemes they have, they provide a brilliant experience coupled with lots of supported to really help you thrive and be the best that you can be. So if you are on the edge of thinking of applying they are definitely worth a shot as you can't go wrong with them.
