I am a Customer Accounts Advisor within the Collections team. We deal with any outstanding payments or any customers that are facing financial difficulty. I take inbound calls from customers that want to discuss their accounts. I also call out to customers that have missed payments or who have breached their terms and conditions.
The main skill I have learnt in my role is communication skills. I have learnt to confidently speak on the phones and get the most information out of the person I am talking to. With debt and finance being quite a sensitive subject, I have learnt to be compassionate with everyone I speak to.
I am really enjoying my programme so far. I have been here just over 6 months and have learnt so much about the Motor finance Industry, and not just aspects within my role. It has been so interesting so far and I am really pleased with how much I have developed. I have also really appreciated the level of responsibility I have been given within my role, whilst also receiveing plenty of support thorughout.
My programme is very well organised. I have set units that I need to complete each month so I know clearly what I need to complete. I have regular study times where I have a day out each week to complete my studies. I also have monthly catch ups with my training provider and mentor.
I recieve plenty of support from my employer. I have monthly '1 to 1' meetings where I can review my progress and ask for any specific support or training. I always have a whole team around me that can help with anything. Even when I contact colleagues accross the business, I am welcomed and helped willingly.
I am always given extra support if needed when I am working towards a deadline for my qualification. My training provider is always accessible by phone or email and is so quick to respond to any queries i have concering my work. I am also given extra time where needed if I have work to finish by a certain time.
My qualification helps me to undertsnad the business I work for as whole. I am learning about the Motor Industry as a whole and learning the details of each department within it, so that really helps to see how my own role helps the business and how I can contribute to it. Having extra knowledge given to me while I am learning in my own role really helps me to understand and develop quicker.
There are plenty of extra-curricular activites to get involved with in the BMW campus. I am currently involved with the 'Charity Champions' team who organise charity fundraising days and help support our chosen charity. I also go to any networking events that are regularly orgainised. I recently went to an Operations 'Speed-Date' where I went to speak with the leading managers accross operations.

If you show you are willing to put in effort to any role you are given, they will want to give you the best training and development as possible.
