My role in PwC is to learn as much as possible within the 3 month placement that I am given. Help to audit different areas and use my professional judgement to come up with a conclusion. Also, ask questions because in the position I am now it's very important to ask as many questions as possible to learn as much as I can.
I have provided new skills. For example, using Aura and documenting all my work performed there. Also, I have developed my skill of communication. During the placement, I had to speak to the client and to my team which helped me to develop my communication skills. Furthermore, I have developed my overall understanding of what audit does and why it is so important in the business world.
At the beginning, it's always more difficult because you have to learn and adapt into your new environment. However, as time goes it gets better week by week especially if your team is great and gives your helpful advice and answer any questions that you might have. At the end of the placement, you feel much more confident .
The way my programme is structured has helped me to to balance my studies and my placement. I like the fact that you have to study only for 3 months and then concentrate for another 3 months on the placement allowing you to apply your knowledge into real life situations.
As a trainee, the employers understand how difficult it can be sometimes and they usually try to be there for you if you have any questions or notice that you are struggling with your workload. They always try to make time for you when coaching is needed and make sure that you understand the objective of your tasks.
I receive a decent amount of support from my training providers. For example, my career coach makes sure that she is updated with my overall progress and we have regular meetings so that we can discuss any issues. Everytime I have asked her for something she would always reply and support me as much as she can even though she is busy and has her own obligations to do.
I feel very good about my qualification and how it helps me to perform better in my role, especially with the help of my training provider who is my career coach and managers on each job assigned to me. They are always there to help you and provide the appropriate coaching so that you feel more comfortable completing your tasks.
There are a lot of extra curricular activities to get involved in at my workplace. There are a lot of charity related activities, sport team activities and social events organised by PwC. Through those you meet a lot of new people which helps you to socialise more outside your work.
Yes
I would recommend PwC to my friend due to the fact of how much I have accomplished, achieved and gained through this experience. It's an opportunity that you cannot miss especially if you want to develop your skills and knowledge in the business world. PwC can definitely help you to start your career.
One tip I would give to others applying to PwC is to take every opportunity and be comfortable that as time passes you will develop your skills and knowledge. Not to be afraid and be sure that people in this company care for you and will give you support in everything you do.
