I am part of the Global Mobility team and my day-to-day job is to prepare and amend tax returns for internationally mobile assignees from various clients worldwide, looking at their earnings and tax treatment in the UK as well as overseas. As part of my job, I participate in different data manipulation tasks where I get an even deeper knowledge of how everything is connected in real-life situations.
I have developed my communication skills as I was warmly welcomed into the team and shown the ropes around tax returns, making me feel comfortable in asking questions. This has also helped me improve other skills such as technical and organisational skills as I have learned how to work with different programs step by step, making sure all relevant information is included for each case I was given.
Everyday I either learn something new or improve my current tax and technical knowledge. The team is always supportive and happy to help with any enquiries I may have in order to help me understand the complex work. All in all, despite the initial thought that having an office job is boring, I enjoy the work I do every day and the people I work with.
As a new joiner, I was given the relative training about the day-to-day job I now do. As mentioned, my team was very supportive every time I needed help or had an enquiry. I was also really happy to find that the task allocations were considerate of me being a new joiner and so I was given easier tasks at the beginning so I could learn step by step.
My Coach Manager has been introduced to me on the first day on the job and he made sure to answer any curiosities I had. The team was happy to give a hand whenever I hit a dead end on my task and they made sure I understood where they were coming from in order for me to remember it next time.
Average support provided by my training provider as the materials, so far, have been delivered slightly late and are not always accurate and consistent with the exam board. Also, the wording of the practice questions is a bit different to the actual exam which can be difficult to understand at times, especially when you are pressured by time.
Although almost none of the qualification comprehension that I learn applies to my day to day job, I believe it increases my tax application, knowledge and how important it can be in real-life cases. Also, it might be useful in the long-term if I decide to become an accountant later on in my career.
Social events take place monthly and in festive seasons such as Christmas and Easter, but also team meetings around the UK where we have the opportunity to meet the wider team. I believe it gives employees, especially new joiners, the chance to expand their networks but also explore other sort of career prospects.

Simply because PwC is a company where you feel integrated and part of the action that affects not only people in every day of their lives but businesses and the environment. It's a place where you meet remarkable and intelligent people that are willing to and have the patience to help.
If you're applying as an employee, you will meet great people in each department that will make you feel more than welcome and integrated in the team so all you need to do is work hard and be yourself. However, if you apply as an apprentice or a graduate, where you also have to study for a qualification, you are in for a complex journey where you have to prioritise your studies and to take advantage of all the knowledge and training provided.
