My role within RSM is to carry out work as an audit assistant. This type of work involves independently examining a clients financial statements. On a day to day basis I will either be within the office or out on an audit at a clients performing audit work along with some of my other colleagues.
With the training program provided by RSM I feel I have been able to develop and follow on my understanding of the accountancy process quickly. While studying at home for my accounting degree and performing audit work through the day I am constantly learning about two different areas each day.
Although the programme can be challenging at times due to time constraints, I feel it is enjoyable as I am constantly learning and developing my skills. It is also enjoyable due to being able to meet new people through training courses. The programme is also quick paced which means you have to be working as efficiently as possible.
I feel my training program 'BPP' is very organised and so helps to reduce stress and allows you to plan workload efficiently. The structure of my training involves learning a section of work and then completing an exam. This is easy to follow and so allows you to book exams and plan study leave in advance.
Through day to day work I always feel supported as I can always ask questions and receive relatively good support and help, either from my line manager or other colleagues. My colleagues are also willing to help if I ever have any queries through my studies with BPP. Overall I feel the support given from my employer is good enough to help me progress in my role.
My training provider from BPP meets with me often to discuss progress and exam dates. At these meetings I feel supported as they are always willing to help with any queries. There are also online tutors which you can ask for help with any of the course work and so overall I feel there is plenty of support from BPP.
My training involves working towards an accounting degree which will eventually result in me becoming a fully qualified accountant. Working towards this is very important for my day to day role as in order to audit a companies financial statements, knowledge on everything to do with how financial statements are produced is necessary.
There are plenty of extra-curricular activities within the office to get involved in. A few of our recent social activities has involved going out for lunches and visiting the cinema after work. We also host events with our clients and so is something slightly different to do but also very enjoyable.
Yes
RSM is very suitable for people who are willing to work hard and want to achieve. This is due to the training being very quick paced and there is plenty of chance for promotions. RSM is also very professional and has good work ethics which makes working there more enjoyable.
A few tips or advice I would give to others applying to RSM is that since roles within the company are often challenging, you can never ask too many questions. I would also advice starters to take notes of everything so you don't forget important information which you might need again.
