My role within the organisation is to help managers complete financial accounts that will be sent to Companies House. This involves taking a trial balance putting into our accounts software and then if necessary posting journals. Then checking through the accounts, doing a reasonableness review check and actual vs budget.
I have learnt how to put a trial balance into a P+L and Balance sheet, how to do a cash flow and statement of changes in equity. I have learnt how to communicate with clients professionally. At college I have done my bookkeeping exam, Financial reporting exam and VAT exam.
I enjoy my programme a lot as this is what I want to do. My managers are very helpful and I can always ask them if I need help. It can be challenging when learning new things and you are allowed to try new things at work such as charities training.
I think it could be better structured as at the moment we seem to be struggling with BPP and communication with them as they give us deadlines for our essays and then do not mark them within the time allocated. Sometimes it is difficult for us to get them to send our books as well.
They do help us if we have a problem with BPP but we tend to do the revision at home. If we get stuck we are able to ask our colleagues for help. We are given a detailed contract from HR so we know exactly what to expect when it comes to our exams.
Depending on what teacher we have depends on how much support we receive. Some will reply to emails over the weekend to help you but some do not reply very much or at all so it ranges a lot. The provider as a whole can be quite difficult to get hold of if we have a problem.
It enables me to understand the role I am doing and the steps behind it. The qualification is also very much needed in the area I work in. I have but some of what I have learnt into practice but not all of it is relevant to my job, but it helps.
Yes we have sports day once a year, we go bowling. We have two work parties, one in the summer and one in the winter. We go out for dinner and go to the pub. We also go to networking events in the evening such as quiz's and meetings.
Yes
It is a good place to work for with lots of opportunities. We are put through our Level 3,4 AAT and ACA as a school leaver. It is a progressive company and its encouraging with wanting us to get trained and allowing us to try different types of training.
Make sure you give yourself enough time to fill out the applications and practice for the video interview and make sure where you apply to is in the department you want. Make sure you research about the company and are prepared to ask questions about the role and be confident.
