  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently on my first 6 month rotation of the program. I have been working with the internal operations team for the private sector, Higher Apprentice and Graduate program. My jobs include planning big events, headcount modelling for employees, assisting with individual's first day in office, general requests from my team, career coach allocations, newsletters etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed good skills in Excel and learnt lots of shortcuts on other computer systems. There are plenty of training sessions on systems such as Salesforce that is used at PwC. From big event planning I have also learnt how to project manage effectively and the skills needed to become a good Consultant.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program. I had read reviews on here previously about the work being very admin based but I haven't found that myself. I think the program has massively improved and I have been given so much responsibility and have been able to mix with very senior partners and leadership. Higher Apprentices are very well respected at the firm.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program consists of 6 month rotations so it is structured well in that way. It would be nice to have some more choice over rotations in the first year of the program as we are able to choose from a list of different teams and areas. In the second year we are able to go on to client work and source our own projects which is really good.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have been able to take time off for study leave and I am always asked by my team if my workload is okay. They are always happy to help and assist if I have a lot on. We also have Career Coaches and buddys to talk to if we need to discuss things that we aren't comfortable discussing with our immediate teams.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am able to email my tutors and ask for help with homework or revision and they are readily available to send more questions and assist. I think there needs to be more transparency when online tests are due to be completed, the marks for these don't go towards our qualification but are to help us develop our skills etc.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far the content I have learnt has been very useful in helping me understand the business better. The skills days provided as part of the qualification have also helped me to develop skills in communication and analysis which are imperative to have as a consultant. I think some of the content could be more aimed at consultancy although I have only sat 1 exam so far.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of extra-curricular activities to get involved in. There are sports teams such as football and badminton. I normally attend the professional networking events such as the young management consultancy association evenings. It is an extremely social environment and I am always going out after work with my team.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a very warm and friendly place to work. The skills and training provided here are to a fantastic standard and it is a name that is trusted and that everyone recognises. There are so many different opportunities to take as there are so many different areas and sectors to work in, which you wouldn't find elsewhere.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Make sure to be yourself in the interview and familiarise yourself with with the PwC core values and beliefs. Brush up on maths and grammar for the online tests and be truthful and honest in the situational based tests as there is not necessarily a wrong answer. Demonstrate why you would be a good match for PwC.
