Involves coaching sports sessions for people aged 16-24, assisting in employability sessions in the classroom, including helping with writing good CV's, teaching and demonstrating effective interview techniques, writing a good quality cover letter and going through how to fill in a application form. Also attending visits to job centre's and other organisations.
I have developed my confidence when leading a session, my communication skills and developed my knowledge of different sports. I have also developed my my discipline and my ability to take control of larger groups. Other skills i have developed include my time management, my planning and my overall organisation skills.
I enjoy every aspect of my programme including the amount of practical work i undertake. I enjoy the participation in sport and the sense of achievement when undergoing a task successfully. For example, if i am coaching a football session and have been able to help someone improve certain skills, i feel a sense of pride and achievement.
The programme is well organised as a whole and everything is taken into consideration. The whole structure of the programme is also also good as i feel the way in which my studies are planned is effective and allowing me to learn new things. My timetable is reasonable and i am able to achieve my goals within that allotted time, although i am partial to undertaking work outside my hours.
I receive a lot of relevant support from my employer, including tips and pointers on how to run a successful sports session. They also allow me to gain the experience and the facilities i need to improve and develop my skills set. I also feel comfortable in confiding in them with any issues I may have.
I receive good support from my training provider and feel as though i am given plenty of information relevant to achieving my qualifications. Some of this support includes 1 to 1 sessions with my training provider which helps me identify what i need to complete and the best way to go about doing so.
I believe it gives me better knowledge and understanding of how to effectively fulfill my role with Street League. The content provided by my training provider allows me to identify areas in which i could potentially improve and figure out a method in which i can do so. It also helps me identify areas in which are my strongest.
I support in attending various network events at various different job centres and community centers. Whilst attending these events i get the opportunity to speak to other employers and find out how they work and if its similar to the way in which the organisation i work for is ran.
Yes
Because i believe it has given me the confidence, belief and the knowledge that i feel i require to pursue a career in sports coaching. The opportunities i have been presented with have helped me develop the skills i feel would be hugely relevant to achieving my long term goal.
Whilst undertaking studies throughout the programme, it is important that your time management and organisation skills are put to good effect. It is important to keep on top of studies and not leave work containing deadlines until the last minute. It is important to give 100 percent effort throughout the whole time.
