Over seeing the running of the store adhering to company policy and procedures, as well as ensuring we are operating legally. Training and upskilling the team and leading in a positive and effective manner.
I have learnt how to be more self aware of myself and how can be perceived by others, allowing me to take the time to reflect and analyse myself. Communication and time management have been key in order to help me with my role.
I do enjoy the programme and see it as a challenge. My focus is to be signed off. As I am working full time in my store and running the store it is challenging to fit in with work and home life however know my hard work will pay off and be signed off within the year timeframe.
I do think my lifetime trainer is organised and keeps me on the right track. It was a little hard to understand in the beginning but once had a one to one it started to make sense and the programme is designed to help me through my journey. Need to ensure I structure my work in order for completion.
I do have support if I ask for it especially from my peers. I do feel my line manager is interested but could get more involved as they should and see what I am working on and my progress. There is a part on our knowledge base with the information required to complete the apprenticeship.
My trainer is always on the other end of the phone or email. And have seen her reply late at night when I am working on my work when she should have been clocked off. When I am stuck I know I can get a response to help me and point me in the right direction.
I do feel the modules I have been working on gives me insight into what skills are needed to get me through and make me more efficient in my role. It has been interesting to work through the activities and make me think hard about what they are about and self analyse myself
Nights out are arranged with my peers and my own team. This can be a meal , bowling or drinks. There are networking events through the year the most memorable being heart of Iceland where we get taken to head office for two days, accommodation and food provided and have the chance to network with the most influential people in the business.
