  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During a normal day I will take on many role within the work place. This will include things like doing small bug fixes for various parts of the site, these are usually little snags that need to be changed. I will then work with a more experienced Dev and expand my knowledge by looking at harder tasks

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learned many new skills, this has been through Uni and through the work place itself. One of the main new skills I have learnt is how to do basic coding. This is something I used on a day to day basis at work and develop my learning over the course of the week.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme because my work place isn't the standard office job. There are always new challenges and tasks to be working on, and as an apprentice I get to look at the different departments within my company, giving me a wider range of knowledge and new skills

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of my programme is well structured as I spend 1 day a week at Uni and the other 4 days are in the work place. This is a good balance for my self as it means I can use my knowledge from Uni to help me at work and vise versa

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The amount of support from my employer depends on the situation. During work if I am struggling on a certain task, lots of people are able to jump on and help me out or guide me in the right direction. I am also given time to do any Uni assignments that need completing and again there are people who can help push me in the right direction

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have a meeting with my line manager every week and if I ever need any help I will contact him. This is also to check that I am able to complete my assignments for Uni and to talk to anyone if I think I am not able to complete it for what ever reason. There are many people who have been to Uni before and they are able to talk to me and guide me also

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that my qualification helps me preform better in my job role in a few different ways. One is because the things I learn I can then use in the work place to help out the different teams. As I progress through my qualification I will be able to give more back to the team and the company as a whole.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes they are plenty of different activities to get stuck in with at MAG-O. Not long after I started working here, a large chunk of the company went to do the "Crystal Maze Experience" in Manchester, this was great because I got to know a few new people from around the office and it helped us work on our communication and team working skills

  • 9a. Would you recommend MAG Airports to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend MAG-O to a friend because it is a great place to work, lots of friendly people who are willing to help you out no matter what (which is greatly appreciated as an apprentice) There are lots of opportunities here and different ways to progress your own carer in the way you desire.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MAG Airports?
  • The application process here wasn't too bad, there was just lots of security details to go through... as you can imagine at an airport. I had a phone interview which was really good, I was asked a few different questions about why I had applied for the role. I was then told that I had been invited for an assessment day. This took a few hours and wasn't as daunting as I first imagined. It was just a small group task followed by a face to face interview.
