I am currently working with the Department for Education and act as a contract administrator on behalf of the client. Typically, I would help manage specific elements of the project such as clerk of works inspections, survey procurement, procurement documents and pre-construction information.
I feel as if I have made huge strides in not only my knowledge of construction but also competency within my role. My communication skills have continued to grow with the constant management of people from various backgrounds and my confidence is gradually increasing as I gain further experience.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Mace and have loved working with the team in Winchester. originally my college days were unorganized and had little structure however since these issues have been addressed, I am beginning to make great progress.
I clearly understand the route and structure of my apprenticeship programme over the next 4 years. There are elements that may need clarity but I have been reassured that when the time comes, there will be sufficient information as how to go about these tasks.
I have received a lot of support from the team in order to help my development. I also feel comfortable that should I need help I can always ask for it.
The support I have received has been good. I occasionally felt that feedback was not up to standard and when we did receive feedback it came very late on and this made it difficult to improve work to the standard I would have liked. However, this is now improving massively.
I feel confident that what I have learned at college has massively supported me in my role. Without these lessons, my current knowledge wouldn't be as good as it is now.
Mace hold a lot of networking events both internally and externally to help you develop your contacts within the industry. There are also social events which help break the ice and integrate the apprentices amongst one another.
Yes
Mace have a great reputation in the industry with a vision that really matches what I want to achieve in my career. They treat you as an individual and you do not get swept up in the corporate side of the business. It is a fantastic place to work/learn.
Be confident in your own strengths and weaknesses. It isn't always about what you know but about how you present yourself and how you would therefore represent the business. If you are a moldable individual with a passion to learn then these drivers can help you massively.
