As an audit assistant I travel to different clients sites almost every week. I work with normally 2-3 people per job and my tasks vary. Within my role I have a lot of client contact asking questions or viewing procedures. Some of my tasks include auditing fixed assets, bank and debtors.
Since starting I have learnt lots of new skills and knowledge. I started with no accounting experience at all and so everything I have learnt is new! I found the BPP teachers really helpful and friendly so I find it a good environment to learn in. At work I learn too from my colleagues around me and on training courses.
I enjoy different aspects of my programme. I enjoy the travelling side as no week is ever the same and being at different places is interesting. Working with different people every week is also great as you don't get bored of the same people! I also really enjoying being able to speak to clients.
The programme is structured really well with each exam and being timetable and study time at college is provided. the exams are booked leaving us enough time to revise but not to much time to forget our knowledge. The programme has lots of structure as I always know what us coming up.
I receive support from my employer in the form of training courses. We are regularly booked onto training courses to learn new things and look at different sections of the file. We also receive training from the supervisor that we are working with on the job and can ask them any questions we have.
I receive lots of support from my training provider BPP. They send us emails asking if we need any help and provide an achievement ladder that we answer as we go. We are provided with a question bank and folder of course notes to learn from and revise. These questions are really helpful.
I feel that my doing my qualification AAT It helps me a lot at work. I learn things in college that I can then apply in the areas that I work on such as cash flows or it helps me have a better understanding of a topic so that when a client mentions it I understand.
Yes, there are lots of extra curricular activities offered at work. There are regular social events normally monthly which are things like golf, cocktail making etc. There are also month end drinks which are a good opportunity to catch up with people that you may not have worked with in a while.
Yes
Because of the reasons noted above. I think its a friendly place with lots of social events put on so that it is not job. Its a great way to make friends' and its a great carer to have that you can learn so much from. I feel this knowledge is really useful.
I would say to be yourself and follow the procedures asked. there are opportunities to speak to the people working at RSM and therefore this is a great chance to speak to them and ask questions to see if it is right for you and you will fit in ! Also its good to mention the core values!
