I was placed within client management. my role involves on-boarding new business into the bank. mainly insurance companies and pension funds. I work with clients directly as well as with our offshore equivalents in India. My role is very fast paced and I have been given a lot of responsibility and feel part of my team and not as if I am on an apprenticeship. I would give this apprenticeship 10/10
Throughout my apprenticeship I have learned new skills as well as developing brand new skills. I have updated both my Microsoft office skills in terms of excel. presentation skills through chairing meetings and writing skills through communicating through mail. my confidence has grown and I have developed many internal skills within my role, using internal processes and a new role from scratch
Applying for this apprenticeship is the best thing I have done. I was planning on uni or taking a gap year. but I am so pleased to have applied. I have met a great group of people and made friends who support me and my growth. I wouldn't change my decision.
We have apprentice meetings once a month with the apprenticeship committee and one meeting a month with our knowledge provider. this is to ensure everyone is getting the support they need. our timeline is laid out with deadlines for study time, courses and exams. We are allocated daily study time and there is always support when we need it.
We are supported through apprenticeship teams, other apprentices and through our teams and managers. We can rely on those around us to help whenever it is required and we have regular meetings with mentors from around the company to help support us with our developmental needs. Previous apprentices give us advise from their experiences.
Our Training provider Knowledgepool/Fitch learning meets with us once a month to check our progress on our portfolio building and exams. They will run through any deadlines for the month and check that we are all sitting at the correct level in our development and are meeting the standards of the program.
Our qualification gives helps give us an insight into banking and is industry recognised. it gives you an overview of the banking world, a challenging look on financial regulation as well as financial crime. the qualification gives me a better understanding of processes within my role and helps me succeed further.
We are always going out with the other apprentices and apprentices from other years. we have built a great social group which we maintain outside of work as well as internally. my team does a daily quiz and we are attending a quiz night soon as a group to see if we can win some higher stakes.
Yes
as well as being a great community, we get continuous support, ive entered into a great team and have honestly made friends that I think I will have for a long time. joined coffee clubs, been on nights out and overall love my job as well as the experience HSBC has offered me.
Be yourself, keep calm, focus on the application and interview questions. think about what the company would expect. keep your standards high, dress smartly. Smile and show how you are different to everyone else who has applied. once you get your role embrace it! don't dwell that it might not be what you want, as I guarantee you will learn to love it
