The role on a day to day basis can involve me being on the site of a client performing planned maintenance on equipment both new and old, being in the office creating graphics and input/ outputs for controllers. Involvement of the commissioning of various systems. Meeting with clients to discuss future works.
So far since joining I have developed a range of new skills such as how to use electrical instruments safely, The safe working with electrical systems using such methods as Lock out Tag Out, Working safely on site performing risk assessment's before tasks are carried out. Existing skills such as communication and understanding technical information have been improved also.
The program has been so far engaging and enjoyable, Things at times can be difficult to overcome but there is always support available when required. The travel element and exposure to different sites has been useful for my improved knowledge. Therefore I would say to a fairly decent extent I have enjoyed the program so far.
The program which I am involved in is in the whole well organized and structured, Time is spent mostly at site or on the training facility with planned training. University Is scheduled weeks in advance so can be planned around, however the beginning of the year there was a travel ban this effected some training however this has now been lifted
In terms of support from my employer is always there when required I feel in my role at present I have always had the support available before having to have it requested this is reassuring that they are there for you at any point. My manager is available at any time by lifting the phone and giving a call I never feel alone.
The training providers so far have mostly been internal so the support has been great, with regards to the training provided towards my degree the university is available when required for any questions or further information most lecturers allow you to either contact them by phone or by email giving another level of contact.
The qualification which I'm working towards the degree I think will well place me after completion as ill have a broad engineering understanding with great experience meaning I will be solve and understand a variety of engineering problems. Having the degree will also allow me to go charted in my role giving more reasonability to myself
There are extra curricular activities available for me to attend which are organized through the work and its encouraged to start others. So far as of yet I have not been to any so I find it unfair to comment more on this particular question as I have not attended any.
Yes
The reason I would recommend Schneider Electric to a friend would be due to the size and scale of the company, and the place which Schneider electric have in the market place. I think this would allow any of my friends with relevant qualifications the correct platform to grow and be successful in there careers
Tips I would give upon applying to Schneider Electric would be to ensure you have researched the company and are aware of the scope of available products from Schneider Electric, be aware of the company's focus and ethos and make sure its something in which you feel you can align yourself to.
