Start as an associate 1, working on an audit and assurance team. The team can be from 3 people upwards. With this role there is a daily interaction with other people and majority of the time external clients. Hours and tasks vary greatly depending on the job and client you are assigned to. Can have long hours and long travel to clients however, you can also be placed in the office for a lot of time.
My skills and knowledge about Audit and assurance have definitely developed well on placement and I'm sure it will help greatly when I go back to university to study and sit my exams. It gives practical experience with the things we learn in lectures and also give context to exams
I enjoy my programme as it has many positives such as the closeness of the group in university and on placement teams. The size of lectures are also very small it's like being back at school with classroom size lectures. The main negative is the lack of uni life for part of the year. The whole of second term is spent working and away from university, it is also a far more demanding course than other courses so we are restricted in what we do at university
It is well organised in the fact that our placements are all planned and organised for us, accommodation is provided in which ever city we are placed in without us having to search and all our learning modules are based around getting our qualifications and exemptions as quickly as possible
There is support in place in different aspects of PwC, we have a career coach who helps us review feedback from different people we've worked with and there is always a more senior person to help us on our teams. We also have a buddy system if we have any questions however this is sometimes complicated to use as my buddy i was assigned is from a different office location
I receive a lot of help when working towards my qualification as my university exams are all based on the professional exams so we can get our exemptions when leaving university. Lecture sizes are all small and only consist of people on the course so it is easier to learn than in a big hall
It gives me practical knowledge around the areas that im working in. It goes into thorough detail of all the different parts of the business areas I work within and I can then apply it in my working day. It also will help me stand out when I graduate from university
Yes but there is not very many and it is not always possible to go when I have been working away from the office as the times are unsuitable. There are office drinks once a month in my office which is a good time to chat to others but again it is difficult when you are working out of the office
Yes
PwC is a big company which means there are a lot of opportunities and a variety of people to meet and work with. The work can also be very diverse as there is such a number of clients and locations with PwC offices or hire PwC. I have enjoyed my time here
To be prepared for the interview and to learn about the different values and aspects of PwC which will be relevant in the interview such as global acumen, business acumen, relationships etc. It is also good to prepare examples of times you demonstrated these in different roles you have had. Think about where you would like to go in PwC as well
