I am senior within the advisory service delivery team working on engagements for clients within the regulatory compliance workspace. I am currently engaged on an outcomes testing project, which conducts point in time outcome testing for customers in secured and unsecured collection journey, reviewing whether the client is treating customers fairly in line with FCA requirements for customers in financial difficulty.
The degree apprenticeship has taught me theory that is relevant to my role, as well as practical application. I can see how the degree and CMI outcomes relate to me role as I progress through the ranks and I have the opportunity to practice these skills on a continuous development in my role.
I have found the degree to be well taught, the university have been accommodating to the company and the closed programme has meant that lecture/seminar discussions are very relevant to our firm. The employer has been accommodating in study leave - both to attend university once a week during term time and also additional days off for assignments and portfolio work.
This is the first time this degree apprenticeship has been offered in this department and has recently been rolled out to the first intake of school leavers. There have been some teething problems, as expected from a new programme, but the university, CMI and the employer have been working well together to tailor and clarify the programme where needed.
The employer have been flexible in terms of when study leave can be taken - from day release for weekly university time to additional days for assignments and portfolio work. The work place mentors are approachable and experienced, which is particularly helpful when discussing and evidencing the portfolio. There are a lot of experienced people to reach out to.
The university has been fantastic with its support, with the programme leader going above and beyond to assist and support the apprentices. The university have been working with the CMI to clarify expectations for the chartered aspect of the apprenticeship and put in a lot of time and structured support to help with portfolio completion
A large amount of the degree content is directly relevant to my role now or as I progress within the firm. The degree has helped me to reflect on my own styles in teams, leadership and learning and I am able to understand areas for development and how I can achieve these
The department currently has netball and football teams, as well as other activities such as book clubs and internal networks for D&I, for example the Muslim network, the mental health network and the unity network. There are opportunities to get involved in CSR activities and there are frequent social events either at individual project levels or larger events for the whole department.
Yes
EY has a strong culture for learning and development and is investing a lot of effort in its people agenda. It has a wide range of D&I networks to get involved with and the department offers a variety of engagements to get involved with to develop skills and work with new people.
Make sure you understand EYs culture and values and consider a range of examples to highlight your skills. Also, don't be afraid to show your personality. EY are looking for enthusiastic people who embrace the culture at EY. It is important to have some understanding of the areas of work that EY do also.
