This varies depending on the project and client I am working for. My first project/role was Blackbox tester(testing functions and features of a system). My current role with my second project is Data Analyst. I use an application called PowerBI to organize and visualize statistical data from multiple sources. I get client data and make it useful for stakeholders.
I have learnt how to organize my time to efficiently get work done to a high quality standard and to meet deadlines. I have learnt more about the technology industry and how it works/functions. I have learnt more about how things run in an office environment and what is expected of me.
I enjoy the various opportunities this programme offers such as collaborating between different regions, training in different areas of the industry etc. I also enjoy the experience the programme provides me with, office and work life experiences that I would not have discovered if I was in full time education.
The programme structure/organisation is decent, the first month was spent training and learning about the different aspects of the industry and what to expect when beginning this adult work life structure. Regular KIT days are organised every few months to keep apprentices motivated and to develop team working skills.
Whenever deadlines are close for University my employer allows me to work on my assignments in the office. They also give me the opportunity to take a few days off for study leave. They sometimes look over my coursework and proof read reports to help me to improve and to identify errors
My University teachers are always on standby if I am struggling with work at home, I email them and they usually respond within half an hour. The Uni also give us a free subscription to Linda.com which we can use to help us study and up-skill in any course or interest we may have.
As I have started this apprentice quite recently what I have learnt in University hasn't been useful or relevant at work. However, in a year or two it will become useful as I will undertake more technical roles by then. The first year of this apprenticeship is an introductory year for the course. The second year is when we actually start the Software Engineering degree content.
There are many social events that take place at work such as KIT days where we spend time together working on group activities and getting to know each other. I also attend Hackathons where we are put into teams and work together to create a software solution. These solution are then tested and the best one is implemented.
Yes
