My role is a third party claims handler - this involves making outbound calls to third parties offering to assist repairing their vehicle and providing a hire, also assisting in bodily injury if applicable. I also take inbound calls and deal with queries, Third party first reports and some Credit hire work.
I have learnt how to communicate effectively over the phone as its something ive never done before, working at DLG has taught me to think on my feet and use my own initiative, it has also helped with my time management, taught me to work independently and as part of a team.
I enjoy my programme a lot as it is challenging but also has taught me lots of new skills it has also gave me a lot of opportunities within direct line such as working in Glasgow and Birmingham, being cross skilled with credit hire, connect coach and other things. I would recommend.
The programme has been well run and organised - the training provider Babington business college really help out and assist me, They come in every month to see how things are going and if i need any help and support - they also communicate with my manager to make everything run seamlessly.
I recieve a lot of support from my team leader who always pushes me to work hard and also gives me lots of opportunities to progress within direct line. My line manager is really helpful and always asks how things are going and if i need any extra help/support.
I recieve a lot of support from my training provider for my qualifications - my trainer Tracy comes in every month to help and support with my qualification, she also is accessible anytime on email/phone if i need any help. They will go through the book with me and create materials to use.
My qualification has give me a general insurance knowledge through the whole book of insurance, it helps out if im ever stuck on a claim or if any of my colleagues need help. It also allows me to understand why we do something's and the reasoning behind it, as the book includes key acts in insurance.
In my workplace there is many things you can get involved with, there is a lot of charity work that takes place. My department often throws work night outs/bowling nights/team meals for everyone to take part in, we also have a wellbeing team which run yoga sessions and massages.

Because they really help out with the stepping stone into the insurance industry, it is a high performing company and one of the bigger companies to work for so there is lots of opportunities to progress. They have always supported me in my apprenticeship and they care about their people.
I would recommend to just be yourself and love what makes you different, DLG are very passionate on diversity. They do have high standards so make sure you adhere to these and work hard. They have core values which all our work is centred around to make sure we are the best insurance company on the market.
