I handle calls relating to motor claims; involving speaking to customers, Third Party Insurers/Reps and or Third Parties, Repairers, Hire companies and Solicitors. I also manage complaints and will always do my upmost for the customer to make sure the issue is resolved. I set up hire and repair garages for customer as and when they require services to be set up on file. I also set expectations in terms of liability and prepare the customer for what potential outcomes may arise.
I gained knowledge of the Motor Insurance Industry through both handling claims and studying the textbook and check in meetings with the training providers. This has helped me increase my knowledge, not just what how to handle claims and what it takes to make sure each file is dealt with efficiently, but it has also taught me to build relationships within a professional working environment.
The Apprenticeship scheme allows you to gain knowledge on what it takes and what is involved, behind the scenes when dealing with motor claims, as well as earning your way and I feel that the Apprenticeship scheme is a great stepping stone to a career which allows you to work up through the company.
The programme is very well structured as we have learning time (3.5 hrs/week) to allow us to gain knowledge and minimise the stress levels, as it allows a break in the working day and allows you to focus on the programme as well as regular meetings with the training providers who explain each chapter of the book in detail and ensure it is understood.
I receive a lot of support because my manager will do side-by-side training with me to ensure my calls are always being handled well as well as giving me pointers and guidance on how to improve which I feel is beneficial. As well as allowing me to listen in to difficult calls and how to overcome a lack of confidence.
I receive a lot of support as my training provider works with us in small groups and explains each chapter of the book as well as a general discussion by using examples in each learning time meeting. We also are given 3.5 hours of learning time a week which allows the working day to be broken up.
The Apprenticeship qualification allows me to perform better in my working role as it allows me to understand what is involved as well as acting as a stepping stone to a good career as the qualification is industry known. The Apprenticeship allows me to feel less intimidated when dealing with each claim.
Direct line offer a quiz night allowing all staff to form smaller teams with different people to build relationships and is a good way to feel welcome at DLG. Also by providing board game nights, along similar lines. These social events are good as they allow new members at DLG to meet existing members of staff as well as a chance to enjoy their night and have a good time.
Yes
As Direct Line Group is a well known company it has many benefits and provides a lot of social events to make new staff feel welcome within the business and by working at DLG, allows the chance for a strong career to be made when working for a well known company.
I would recommend working for DLG as all members are made to feel welcome, with the nights out and social events also helps to build new friendships and bonds with everyone as well as providing benefits financially for example car, home and pet insurance. DLG allows for you to work your way up through the company.
