  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I worked with my engagement team in order to complete testing over various financial statement line items. I worked through a wide variety of EGA's in order to gain a sufficient amount of testing. I engaged with the client in order to achieve this.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt numerous new skills throughout my placement, I developed my knowledge of the file so as to provide coaching to the junior members of the engagement team. I developed relationships with both colleagues and client staff members and thus furthered my people skills. I also completed testing in areas of the file I had never previously worked thus expanding my knowledge.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I enjoyed the aspect of interacting with the client and enhancing my knowledge of their line of business. I enjoyed the opportunities provided to me by this job including an away job and also the relationships I developed throughout my placement which I hope to continue going forward

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The degree programme is extremely well structured. It provides both a university style life style whilst also providing us with the valuable experience of a full time job . The opportunity of completing ICAEW exams during the degree is also an extremely valuable aspect, it allows us to become a chartered accountant as soon as possible

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a through amount of support from PwC. They provide us with a buddy to allow us to integrate into the firm and further provide us with a people manager who is someone to confide in if we have any issues. The team environment also provides great support throughout.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The university provide a significant amount of support throughout working towards our qualifications. The lecturers provide a significant amount of help with regards to the work we need to complete in order to pass our exams. The support we receive whilst on placement as well is extremely encouraging moving forward to out final term of exams

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The exams we complete whilst at university provide us with a terrific insight as to what is required whilst in our role on placement. The content we learn more often than not appears whilst on placement and its very encouraging to be able to look back and know exactly what to do or how to approach testing techniques

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a limited number of extra curricular activities at my work. The only ones that I'd be interested in is a 5 a side evening and perhaps events such as mini golf/bowling. The are however drinks at the month end which provide us with an oppurtunity to interact and socialise with colleagues that we wouldn't usually approach

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • PwC are an extremely supportive company that offers numerous opportunities to placement students in order to enhance their business knowledge and further their career. it provides an opportunity to develop relationships with colleagues whilst also learning about the inner workings of Audit. PwC also provide a great opportunity to work on a wide variety of clients


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Work hard and do take time to do a sufficient amount of preparation when preparing for the interview and skills centre. Be personable yet confident and don't shy away from any potential questions. The interview is never as scary as you imagine and provided you get good grades you should be fine
