I was part of a team tasked with the audit of a client. On a daily basis, I was actively involved in audit work ranging from planning the audit to completing testing procedures for the audit. As a flying start, I was given associate level work, However, as the placement progressed, I was given additional responsibility and was given work a senior associate 1 or an associate 2 would generally be doing.
Being exposed to the industry I want to work in and as well as being exposed to the commercial world at a very young age provided me with an opportunity to develop my communication skills, global acumen and the placement played a huge role in further helping me to understand the industry. I also believe my skills as an auditor have improved as the placement progressed.
The placement as mentioned above was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was great fun working with a team and getting to build a lot of professional relationships. Furthermore, the whole experience of working as a university student is an added boost and sets me up for a successful professional career.
The programme is extremely well structured. There is a dedicated team in the university constantly attending to all our queries and working hard to ensure we get the best out of our education. The placements are equally comfortable with all flying starts having a career coach who acts as a guide and helps us settle in a work place environment which can be quite overwhelming.
As mentioned before the placements are comfortable with all flying starts having a career coach who acts as a guide and helps us settle in a work place environment which can be quite overwhelming. The seniors in team members are also extremely welcoming and there the atmosphere in PwC in general is extremely amicable.
The programme is structured to give us enough time to study and work. Education and the qualification are given equal importance and PwC have constantly emphasised that they hold our qualifications as a top priority. The placements are placed at specific times during the year which makes it easy to study for the qualifications as well as work and gain the necessary work experience.
Preparing for the qualifications has provided me with knowledge which plays a pivotal role in completing audit work. The education we receive from the university who acts as our training provider helps us largely improve the quality of audit work performed while on placement. The course is also strategically structured to provide students with the necessary knowledge before they go on placement.
There are team socials as part of every audit. teams are given a budget proportionate to the size of the team that works on the client. The teams then get to decide how they want to spend their budget. there are also sports teams in certain departments of the firm. there is also a culture of fun within the firm.
Yes
PwC is one of the big four audit firms in the world. As mentioned before they place emphasis on our development as a student, employee and auditor. Moreover the atmosphere around the firm is amicable and makes it extremely easy to settle in for a new employee. It's a great firm which provides us with a lot of opportunities to develop
I would ask them to stay organised and prepare themselves mentally for the work they need to perform. I would ask them to focus on their self development. I would ask them to think about where they see themselves in 10 years time and their career goals and structure their goals for working in PwC based on them.
